Charge The Coil

A one-touch timing game about building more electricity than you can comfortably control.

Tap the instant the moving charge reaches the contact. A clean hit winds the coil, a perfect hit winds it faster, and a full coil discharges into the next one. Every point makes the charge quicker and the window tighter — until the run that finally gets away from you.

The loop

How it plays

  1. 01

    Tap on the contact

One button, one moment. The charge runs the copper spiral toward a white contact gate; you tap the instant it arrives. Nothing to aim, nothing to hold — the whole game is that single frame of timing.

  2. 02

    Chain the perfect hits

Land inside the tighter inner window and the hit counts double, the coil winds further, and a perfect chain starts building. Greed is the mechanic: every chained hit is worth more and every hit after it is harder.

  3. 03

Fill the coil, take the discharge

A full coil discharges by itself — a scoring bonus on top of the chain, stored energy blowing apart, and a fresh winding underneath. Then 3 · 2 · 1 · GO counts you back in, so a new coil never starts before you do.

  4. 04

Climb the ranks, then the world

Completed coils carry into a career of ten ranks and ten circuit styles, from Copper Core to Aurora Overdrive. Your highest verified run is your high score, and it sits on one global board shared by every edition.

Screens

Every winding is a different machine.

  • The Charge The Coil title screen with the copper induction coil idling

The coil idles at the title, demonstrating the mechanic before a tutorial can.

  • The charge arriving at the white contact gate with a TAP NOW prompt

The contact gate opens and asks for exactly one tap.

  • A full coil discharging into plasma and particles

A full coil discharges on its own — bonus, plasma, and a fresh winding.

  • The ten career ranks and circuit styles from Copper Core to Aurora Overdrive

Ten ranks, ten circuit styles. Every one is a different machine to look at.

  • The global rankings board showing coaster names, ranks and high scores

One world board, shared by iOS, itch.io and Reddit. Every run is replay-verified.

The case for paying once

Why the iPhone edition

  1. 01

    One payment. The complete game.

$0.99, once. We chose a one-time price over yet another subscription: you buy the game, you own the game, and every future update is included. No ads, no in-app purchases, nothing to buy your way past.

  2. 02

Nothing to sign up for. Nothing tracked.

No account, no e-mail, no analytics. Your career is an anonymous coaster name, kept in the iPhone Keychain rather than in browser storage one cache clear can wipe.

  3. 03

    You can feel the discharge.

Core Haptics hums along while the coil winds, then a discharge lands as a firm tick with a soft aftershock — in sync with the layered electric sound. No browser on iPhone can vibrate at all, so this is the edition you play by feel.

  4. 04

Sound that behaves like a game, not a tab.

Ten recordings play through a native audio bridge with its own playback session: no browser autoplay rules, no embedded-player hiccups, no waiting for the second tap.

  5. 05

    Plays offline, ranks online.

Twenty verified run tickets ride along, so a tunnel or airplane mode doesn't cost you a career run. Without a ticket the game drops into safe practice mode instead of faking a score — and every verified run lands on the same shared world ranking as itch.io and Reddit.

  6. 06

Light, accessible — and on your Mac, apparently.

17 MB, iOS 14 and up, full Reduce Motion support. And because Apple lets iPhone apps travel, the same purchase also plays on iPad, Apple silicon Macs and Apple Vision. We found that out from the listing too.

Charge The Coil is the first game that really feels like a solid release — finished enough to put out properly, bring to iOS and keep supporting. It's the first real step into releasing games instead of only working on them, and it definitely won't be the last.
